today was the most awesome day. Improv sucked, but i'm taking care of it. I actually understood sightsinging. I actually understood jazz piano. I got things done; ie I went to Hickeys and got the music stuff I needed and I went to the package trailer twice to pick up my stuff from home, and a box from Bed, Bath and Beyond that turned out to be an early birthday present from my cousin! I LOVE him so much. He got me a pillow that says "Havana" on it, and it really goes well with my room. So then I have time to come back and chill in my room for about a minute before Emily and Leigh ask me to come over, I take a quick shower and go over there. We decide that we're going to go see Garden State later in the evening, and go to dinner. Dinner was...average. Had fun, that was about it. So then after that I asked Travis if he wanted to jam with me for a while and he wanted to go to his room and do it cuz he has a piano so off we went. We played a couple things, then i wanted him to sing and for the FIRST time i heard him sing! And his voice, ladies and gentlemen, is amazing. There's something about it that makes you want to listen to it forever. It's great. So of course i wanted him to sing for like an hour straight, but we comprimised to switch off doing songs because he wanted to hear me too. It was just what i needed. Then his RA came in and chilled with us for a while, and also this girl Aimee from the other side of the dorm who is a freshman music ed piano major. So then we went to go see Garden State- Emily, Becky, Leigh, Vanessa, Travis, Aimee and I. It was SUCH A GOOD MOVIE. Jack Braff (sp?) is the MAN, can i just say. Wrote, directed, and starred in. What talent. So after that i had the bright idea to go (illegally) to Buttermilk Falls and chill for a while. So we went there, climbed a lot of stairs to where it was properly dark, and talked about loads of philosophical shit and scarey stuff and there were bats and big moths and stuff. It was perfect. And then of course a dick ranger comes and makes some comments about my bumperstickers, followed by a threat of a ticket if we didn't get out of the park. So we left. But tonight was just what I needed, i'm re-energized and ready to be all stressed out again. Maybe college won't be as bad as i'm thinking after all...

so today was the worst day ever... I started by getting up at 8:55, doing slim in six for an hour, took a shower, got all pretty, went to my first class at noon. It was cool, i was a little shy but it worked out okay in the end- met a girl named Timmy who transfered from another school, she was a musical theatre major before! Funny but true. After that i met Travis, we practiced a little bit, i went up to the reed room and hung out with Emily until my 2 o'clock audition for Vocal Jazz. My audition went well, just sang, sightread, improvised and left. That was when i realized my keys were missing. I went around to look for them, and at around 2:40 i passed by Steve Brown's office and decided to try again and see if he was there to ask him about taking Jazz History. I got the override form, got him to sign it, then he says "Aren't you supposed to be in class?" I say "nope." He says "don't you have calligraphy mondays and fridays with Cookie?" I say "yup." He says "Don't you know today is a monday schedule?" I said "nope." He says, well you've got class right now, go." So I run my ass to class, get there exactly on time, all the while thinking about the 10 o'clock class i have on mondays and not on wednesdays. That means that i missed my first class this morning. YEA, good start. LUCKILY, Cookie is the improv teacher as well as the calligraphy teacher, so i just had to explain my mistake to her after class and she gave me the syllabus and gave me a crash course on 7ths and the modes. At about this time i realize that i have my other audition at 4:20. And it was 4:15. About that time Travis calls me saying "where the hell are you" i run over to my audition. I go audition, it was a good audition i think, we'll see results on friday. So after that i still don't have my keys. I'm looking (with Travis, because he is the best thing EVER IN MY LIFE) for my keys for probly about an hour or so, when Mitch calls Travis to play frisbee. I give up looking for my keys and decide to go with them to go play frisbee. Mitchell, when he sees me, says "Lara, did you know your keys and crap are downstairs in a practice room? They've been there all day." I thought he was fucking with me. I told him if he was kidding that i was going to kill him, but sure enough they were there in this practice room i had forgotten i went in. I was in it for all of about 30 seconds, but i managed to leave my keys there. When i got back, i noticed i had ALSO left my music on the window sill next to my 4:20 audition, which had been an hour before. So I was a wreck. I think i found everything i had distributed around the music building, and i went to dinner. Yummy dinner. Then i went swimming, but the lifeguard didn't show up for a half hour, then there were like 20 people in the pool and they kept getting in my way so i couldn't even swim laps without constantly running into people. After about 20 minutes I gave up and came home. So that's where i am right now. Whew. And plus for some reason i just feel like shit. I don't know what it is. Fuck goddammit shit poop. There, i feel better now. Well, as travis put it, can't get any worse than this so i'm sure tomorrow's gonna be a better day. Yay for school right?!

hey uncle bob! Glad you still keep up with me ;). And just so everyone knows, i am back in Ithaca, woot. I'll shortly be putting some pictures up showing off my single and stuff around here. I'm off to a good start so far, getting everything settled, waiting for my room to be lofted, shopping for food at midnight last night. It's gonna be cool to have the 7th floor boys in the terrace RIGHT next to me! And Emily in the other one of course!! It's really a shock to see everyone that i know just chillin around the commons and in the malls and Target, Wegmans. I've seen so many people i know already just walking around! I'm still really scared about what i'm getting myself into as far as the major situation is concerned tho. Let's hope i've got some nice teachers and a really quick brain. WE'LL SEE!! As far as the swimming is concerned, the pool has really stupid hours and it sucks. I'm going to have to swim from 8-10 at night every night. I guess that's cool tho, although i should be swimming from 7-8 but i don't want to get up that early. Boo. Okay, gotta go to the music building and find out about choral auditions now. Woot!
