Saw SpellBound today- a documentary about the National Spelling Bee. And boy it was really good! I really felt for those kids at the end of it. And some of those families, jeez, you would bet money the documentary was made by the same people that did Spinal Tap, Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. There was this dog in the movie, that belonged to one of the families...it was hilarious! It was ALWAYS in the shot, either sleeping or licking the mother's leg. It was hilarious. So yea, 2nd movie in 2 days. Let's see, what else did I do today? Oh, Barry came over and we worked on the set for Lizzie's party...it'll be nice. I....slept....I don't know why, i've been getting plenty of sleep. Tomorrow I get to learn how to wash clothes for the FIRST TIME! (Sheltered much?!) I'm also getting together with Ersin to go to Tysons...if he ever calls me cuz I didn't talk to him at all today...and getting together with Mehrnoush in the evening. fulllll day. Oh! I got a new answering machine message! Yall need to call it and listen, we worked rreeeeeeal hard on it :). Okay, so I guess that's all for today. Countdown to Ithaca- 49 days. Wow! That's crazy soon. yesssssssss

Mmmm Fourth of July! The Barbecue was really nice, we had chicken sausage and chicken breast cuz I don't eat any red meat (yall know that), and then Phoebe and I did loads of stuff. We went online to torture my friends, but nobody was on and willing to talk. Then we played the Harry Potter Trivia Game (and she actually resorted to cheating because she was scared I was going to win....RIGHT, like I would ever win something that asks you to remember how many turkeys were served at the first dinner at Hogwarts!). Of course I was surprisingly better at that game than the last time I played it...I only lost by 3 this time! (before I lost by like, 9). So then we went upstairs and met the new Guinea Pigs, and started reading "Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher" by Bruce Coville. She really likes me to read to her, and I enjoy re-reading all the books I read as a child. We got about 80 pages into it, I'm probly reading the rest to her today after we go see "Spellbound". Oh, so as I was reading this book to her my dad comes in and says "uh...we lost track of time, and, we really don't think it's worth it to go down to RM to see the fireworks- what do you guys think?" We decided that we would just stay and watch the DC one's on TV with the lights off. We made anti-American government comments the entire time, it was a nice evening :). That sums up my day after Raging Bull yesterday- Christina came over right before we left for the Temkins and dropped off her bike again- it has it's permanent residence in my shed. Christina's gonna buy a bike rack for her car so we can take the bikes to NC with us! I think that would be awesome. Oh, I didn't write about our bike ride 2 nights ago. It was crazy fun! We were getting her bike outta the shed and she was nervous about spiders and such, so I told her to ride it around a bit so they'd all fall off. The air in her tires was almost completely gone, so we decided to take my and her bike to get air in the tires at the gas station about 5 minutes away from my house. So at 10 at night we rode flat bikes to the gas station, figured out how to use the air machine...that was funny...and then went to Dairy Queen and I got a Mint Oreo Blizzard, while she got some fat free fudge bars because of her diet. The Blizzard was better. The bike ride really brought back old memories, cuz I used to ride that thing nonnnnnstop everywhere I went. It was nice to be on it again, and Christina has made me promise that we will ride bikes a lot this summer. Barry's coming over today at noon so we can rehearse for Lizzie and Meg's party that I'm singing a set for. I haven't sung for a really long time! Not since my recital! I'm rather excited to be singing again, with an accompanist and everything. So I gotta go take a shower before he comes, I'll write more later.

I just saw Raging Bull at the AFI Silver movie theatre in Silver Spring. What an amazingly directed movie! Robert De Niro was crazy good in it and the artistic quality of the movie is mind blowing. Scorsese (sp?) is one of the best directors ever! And when I say this movie is good, it's not for those who like happy endings. I tell you, I hated the ending because of what happens....but the movie has no faults as far as I'm concerned. My father was talking about it and we decided that it's not a movie that you "enjoy", it's a movie that you "appreciate"... because no one in their right mind would enjoy a movie like that. It's more of an experience, as my dad would say. Anyways, I recommend it to anyone that looks at movies not only for the subject matter, but for the directing, acting, cinematography (sp?) etc...actually, I recommend it only to people who look at the film NOT for the subject matter, but for the latter things listed. You know what's crazy? Robert De Niro wanted to play the part of LaMatta so truthfully that he put on like 70 pounds for half the movie because LaMatta gets fat as hell towards the end of his career. THAT'S dedication. Anyways, in other news Adam says he might come visit me over the summer :). That would be a treat. And I have an open invatation to come see him whenever I'm in New York- which I'll probly be doing because I'm gonna go visit Mara sometime at NYU this summer. He said we could go see a show :) i'm sooooo excited! Okay, more later

Babysitting was fun, but tiring. I think the shot is making me sleeeeepy. 4th of July tomorrow! Counting the days till Ithaca. Oh, if you want a CD/tape/video/DVD of my recital please leave a comment saying exactly what you want because I need a list. If you want a DVD it's gonna cost you like 5 bucks because that's how much it costs to buy blank ones- and also we need to pay this guy to copy them...but I would recommend the DVD because it's the best quality and you get to see AND hear me ;). But please let me know, even if you've told me before because I probly forgot. Okay i think that's all for now, I'm oddly giggly and tired. Hmph. Christina's coming over and picking up her bike, and tomorrow I'm going over to the Temkins house and having a barbecue, then going to RM to see the fireworks. Nice days :) okay i'll write more later, if i'm not sleeping

shot! Oh god I hate shots. But I didn't pass out. I was kind of close tho...it really wasn't bad at all, Im just scared that my arm is gonna fall off or something. It's strangely tense around the spot that I got it...I really don't like that feeling! Oh well, just letting you all know I'm a big girl who got her shot without fainting :). I've got to babysit later today, good stuff. This girl is the cutest thing EVER! She's my cousin, her name is Atalya and she's like 2 or 3. Adorable! And then Christina's coming over and doing abs with me. She's really on an exercise kick right now- Pam and her have started this new diet thing...hmm...oh well, I don't think I'll do it with them, I've got my own plan. Slimfast all the way baby!

MEKChewy: no longer going to college
popqueen23: are you not...well then....Mr.not-a-very-good-liar-boy, i'll see that Ballet in August, you better start practicing now
MEKChewy: oh crap

COLLEGE ROCKS.

Okay, i'm back from Ithaca- a new woman! I'll give you as much detail as I can but there was just SO much that went on. Okay, first, my new friends, in no particular order mind you: Ernest, Nick, Matt, Adam, Andrew, Allen, Erica, Laura, Tyler, Alison, Sarah, Stuart, Emily, Elizabeth.....who else am I forgetting? Jeez I know i'm forgetting people. Notice how a whole shitload of them are guys? Yes, because guys are actually CIVIL and NICE at college! I know it's a crazy concept, but it's true. so I met Ernest the Vibraphone major while waiting in line for the sightsinging exam which I did not (I found out when I got in the room) actually need to take because Musical Theatre majors don't take sightsinging. But oh well, I met Ernest so it was worth the hassle. My mother actually got me to meet Matt, because Matt was sitting all alone in the welcome meeting so my mom told him to come join us. Matt is exploratory, but he likes playing Guitar. I betcha he's gonna be a music major before it's all over with. He reminds me of a Robbie Bloomer/Scott Church mix, for those who know who those people are. After that we ate dinner, I ate with Matt and Ernest and my mom and Ernest's family, and split up into our small groups to get to know more people. I was group E, the name of our group was the "E Spot" (yes, all of you, the dirty connotation is meant) and that's where I met Alison, an acting major. We were the 2 trashy ass women in our skit- a JerrE Springer show about how men can't find the E Spot. I got to use a random accent, so I had some fun. Andrew was in my group, but I don't think I really got to talking to him then. The next day at breakfast is when I really talked to Andrew, he sat with me and these other people who i didn't really know that well. Ernest and Matt ditched me for breakfast, so I made new friends ;). But it turns out I just lost Ernest when I went around the bend of the dining hall- completely understandable. For our math and writing exams I got to talk to Andrew a little bit (He's a musical composition major, and he plays the Viola! The viola! Talk about awesome! Who do you know who plays the viola?!) and Ernest and this guy I had met at breakfast Nick. Nick's a...actually you know I'm not quite sure what Nick is, i think he's a composition but I could be wrong. He had forgotten his name tag, and the name tag's had the Majors on them, so...yea, not my fault. Anways, I kind of forget the actual order in which these went- i know for lunch I ate with Alison and Stuart (acting major as well) and some techies and Emily, majoring in Oboe- and then Stuart, Emily and I went to a computing session thing about getting our new email addresses and such. So btw my email will be lsupan1@ithaca.edu starting August 23rd! Make a note. At some point during those 3 days I went to the music building to audition for private flute lessons- where I met Andrew walking the halls listening to groups...so he came with me to the registration place, and the practice rooms, although i wouldn't let him listen to me warm up. He SAID he was gonna go play the piano in another room...and when I came out he was gone. I went and auditioned for the private lessons, got them (yayyyyyyyyyyyy) and...umm...actually i think I did that before lunch. Yea. After that, I think we had that academic briefing thing where I met Adam and Allen and Elizabeth and Sarah and I got my schedule because I basically didn't get to choose any electives this semester...so they had my schedule ready and done for me. Same with Adam. He's a design major- did I already say that? Anyways, then dinner? I think? Maybe, yea. Ernest, Nick, unfortunately we lost Andrew for a while because there was a misunderstanding...maybe he doesn't know where the fish is ;) but anyways, I invited Adam over with his friends and they sat with us too. My mom got to sit with us, she was having a ball. So I told Andrew I got the private flute lessons and he says "Oh I had no doubt you would I was listening to you and you're really good." I got mad at him cuz i told him not to listen to me, and he confessed that he even watched me for a second or two! Ughhhhh I hate when people hear me play the fluuuuuuuuute. Well dinner was good, then we had the relays in which I was mainly the cell phone girl- I got to wear Andrew's shirt...and Uri's visor...yea, i looked like da shit yo.That night my mother got locked IN her room...that's right, not OUT, IN. So I was late for this party thing they were throwing in the coffehouse. When I got there I saw Adam and hung out with them for a while. Then we walked over to the gorgeous Ithaca fountain....I caught a frog, we looked at baby ducks, then we walked over to the fish, and I spaced out while the group talked about stuff, and I stared at the stars and bats flying by for about 20 minutes. Just started reflecting on life and transitions and college and stuff...didn't really come to any major breakthroughs but it was nice. There's no light pollution on top of the mountain so the stars look gorgeous! At around 12:30 I decided I would go to bed, but as I was walking up to the dorms I ran into Andrew and Emily and this other composition major (who's name i didn't catch) and we walked around for a while and then went and talked about stuff till about 2. Laaaaaate night. And then I got up at 6 in the morning for breakfast and checkout and all that good stuff. I CAN-NOT-WAIT till I go back! All these guys really gave me hope that there are nice, polite, sweet guys out there that don't second guess you and not trust you and make up shit about you....whew. College men- like a dream come true. That doesn't mean I'm gonna ditch all my highschool friends tho- i'll still be true blue to yall- just for you girls tho, hold on to your socks cuz there's something better out there ;). ITHACA HEAR I COME :)

-Lara

PS- I'm sure I forgot many things- like my roommate- i mean i didn't talk about her at ALL....but i'm so tired....I'll get to that some other time night night
